AXEL

[AXEL ] AXEL was adopted from the shelter 8 years ago, a cute little ball of fur that someone just couldn't resist taking home. Advance to 2012 and a call to animal control that a dog was being left outdoors 24/7. That cute bundle of joy had grown into an adult dog that was relegated to the backyard--perhaps because he shed or was just in the way or the novelty had simply worn off? While spending lots of time outdoors AXEL was likely not given heartworm prevention meds as he had heartworms by the time he came to us. AXEL has completed the treatments and should not experience any ill effects from them. His health is now good for an older guy. Despite his neglect, AXEL is a sweet boy who is anxious to meet his next someone who sees the endearing side of his now slightly older self. AXEL is enjoying his PAW friends company and attention and is learning about the finer things in life like treats and long enjoyable strolls and, well, treats and more treats. This boy is very food motivated and will quickly sit and be attentive to anyone who has a nice tasty treat so training will be a snap for him—he already knows ‘sit’ and ‘down.’

[AXEL ] While in his foster home undergoing his treatments we have learned that AXEL loves going out for walks, loves attention, is very sweet with his people and with new people. He is well behaved and fits right into a set routine. He is always happy to see people and does well on a leash. He is just basically a happy dog despite his rough beginnings.

AXEL is anxious to get on with life now that he has gone through his heart worm treatment. Might that be with you?
