DUKE

Poor Duke lost his home through no fault of his own. Sometimes family emergencies happen....so Duke found himself in the shelter. Our volunteers are head over heels in love with this sweet boy! He's got a smile that can melt the coldest heart and a sincerity that you wish every person could possess. And come on.....how adorable are those ears? One up, one down..... he's just too darn cute! Duke knows sit, gives paw AND (the best part, in our opinion) gives 'thank you' kisses. Duke was overly well-fed, so he needs to shed some pounds. But hey....it's almost spring time - we all do!! PLEASE come and meet this gentle giant. *SLURP* Oh - sorry - that was just Duke giving YOU a big thank you kiss too!! He looks forward to meeting you and shaking your paw - um - hand!!

Update, April: Duke has nice house-manners as he is housetrained and barks only when his person first leaves the house or when excited about going for a walk. He is very friendly and good with kids of all ages. When he goes out for his walks children are drawn to him like a magnet and he seems to get a lot of attention wherever he goes. Duke is the perfect definition of a dog. He is loyal in that he loves to be around people and will follow them anywhere. He gives good long hugs and sloppy kisses. You can watch him smile when you scratch him and tell him what a good boy he is! Duke is very smart and already knows some commands such as wait, sit, lie down, no and shake.
