KAYLA's surgery was successful and she is now breathing normally. Lucky girl, our KAYLA is.
This girl is a doll. Despite her troubles she continued to be a very sweet and loving dog. Just say her name or lean over her and she will show you her belly in exchange for gentle rubs and hugs. She also likes to give "kisses".
KAYLA was picked up by animal control, found running the streets along with a couple of other dogs from the same household. Apparently she had recently had pups that were still in the home. The owner reclaimed one or two of the other dogs and said they would return for KAYLA but did not. Rescue individuals perusing the shelter noted a pronounced snorting which was thought to be pneumonia. The shelter staff sent her over to be looked at by an emergency hospital and what they found was not pneumonia at all but what ended up being an elongated soft palate which was hampering her ability to breathe. Wanting to do the right thing, PAW agreed to take KAYLA, committing to giving her a life-changing surgery to correct the palate. Lucky for her surgeries and care such as this are made possible by generous donations from the public!
