KOBI

[KOBI ]

Is there anybody there?

My name is Kobi and I can't see much anymore. But that is not the problem . I can find my way around pretty well, using my nose. The real problem is that when I was younger, people were mean to me . I learned that hands can hit and hurt me. So now, when someone I don't know touches me, I get scared and sometimes I snap at them. But when it is someone I know, like my foster mom, then I never snap . I trust her, you see.

[KOBI ] My foster mom says I am a good boy in the house. I never make a mess, I am quiet, and I don't chew anything I shouldn't. I just like to sit by her feet or hop up onto her lap to be petted. That's my favorite place to be . I know I am safe there. Of course, I can.t stay with my foster mom forever. I need to meet someone new that I can learn to trust and love. I will learn how they smell - it won't take long - and then I will have someone to love and care for me forever.

Kobi has progressive retinal atrophy, a genetic disorder that results in blindness. However, he has adapted very well and is able to learn to navigate new surroundings quite quickly.
