NOMINATIONS FOR THE 2001 PAW BOARD:

Later today I will send out the announcement calling for nominations for the 2001 PAW Board of Directors. This announcement also is an appeal to ALL volunteers: please consider serving in one of our many non-elected positions, where help is needed for specific tasks. Contact information will be provided in the announcement. Thanks! -- Liz Dietz

FUNDRAISING:

**BOWIE YARD SALE. Coming up next week, Saturday, November 11th. The last one of the year! We need set-up volunteers starting at 8:00 a.m.; sales volunteers from starting time through 1:00 p.m.; and volunteers to help clean up. If you'd like to help out in any way, please contact Amy (amy@clark.net or 301-261-7178).

**IGIVE EVEN EASIER. Happy to shop on iGive.com to donate a percentage of your everyday Internet shopping to PAW but tired of forwarding in your order confirmations so PAW gets credit? That's okay--you no longer have to forward most order confirmations so PAW can get credit for percentages of your purchases. Details are on iGive.com. PAW has made thousands of dollars through iGive merchants donating percentages of book, clothing, food, and other purchases to our homeless animals. Don't know what iGive is? It's free and easy to use. Go to http://www.iGive.com/paw to sign up!

MISCELLANEOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS:

**T-SHIRTS, SWEATSHIRTS, BANDANAS. Please contact Amy (amy@clark.net or 301-261-7178) to pick up your order or if you have any questions about future orders.

**PAW 2001 CALENDARS. They're still available! Please see Kathleen Summers at the White Flint show to pick up your copy(s) before they run out! They are $8.00 each.

**PAW ON-LINE AUCTION. Beanie babies and more! Take a look at the online auction on our website! We have dozens of beanies and other new items, just in time for the holidays. A great way to help PAW while getting some wonderful gifts. http://www.paw-rescue.org/PAW/SALES/auction.html

ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND THANKS:

**GREENBELT and CALVERTON. Many thanks to all the volunteers who transported animals and worked the Greenbelt dog show and the newly expanded Calverton dog and cat adoption show this past weekend. Thanks to Robin who presented another PETS-101 pre-adoption session prior to the Greenbelt show.

**TOWSON - THANK YOU BAYSOXERS. A team effort made the Towson event possible October 21st. Much appreciation goes out to: (in alphabetical order) Allan Dansie, Allen Hosmer, Brian Daugherty, Howard Goldfarb, Janet Jacobs, Jim Edwards, Joy Sonnier, Lori Goetsch, Lorna Syme, LuAnne Seipp, Marion Hosmer, Mary Hart, Steve Noel, Tracy Goldfarb(our telephone tree) and Valerie Syed. We raised $940.00 for the little furry ones! On another note for those of you that have asked, our family is still awaiting Tracy's baby as of October 30th. She is a true Goldfarb, late for her own birth! <:-) Thank you everyone for all that you do.

**COLUMBIA. A big (belated) thank you to Lorna Syme, who did a great job on the set-up coordination and table duty at the October 22nd Columbia show.

**METRO AREA ANIMAL TASK FORCE. Many thanks to Robin Tierney, who attended a task force meeting two weeks ago and provided comment on a draft survey to be sent to regional animal shelters and animal control departments, focused on gathering data about management, intake, animal licensing, adoptions, bite reporting and regs on dangerous/nuisance animals. For details, contact Robin (RKtierney@aol.com).

**CANDY! Purrs and tail wags to PAW's Candy Selling Team for raising big dough for PAW...including Jennifer D, Mary J, Karen E, Wendy A, Diana W, Lisa B, Marcy G, Cathy I, Lauren B, Suzie L & Brian D.

**OLDIES 100. Special thanks to Kathleen Summers, who is featured on Oldies 100 radio (WBIG) every Friday morning at 8:50 a.m. to promote the adoption of a dog and a cat. Kathleen does a wonderful job, and we hope you will remember to tune in to catch her radio spot and also spread the word to your friends! Thank you so much for doing this, Kathleen!

DOGS THIS WEEK:

IN MEMORY OF VICTOR. With sadness we note the passing of our foster dog Victor, who lived his last year plus with foster Becky Soubra. Becky gave this old beagle a wonderful life, so he knew peace and happiness in his last years.

SPECIAL NOTICE:

**BIRD PLACEMENT SOUGHT. Through the course of her rescue work, Mary Hart has recently acquired an abandoned cockatiel (bird), and she is seeking a permanent home for this little lady, known as "Mo". Mo is gray and is nice but not hand tamed; age unknown. If you can help Mary place Mo in a loving home, please contact her at Mary.Hart@courts.state.md.us. Also, Moira Gingery notes that cockatiels are sweet, wonderful animals. She offers help and avian advice, so please contact Moira if you are thinking of taking a cockatiel into your home. Moira has extra cages as well. Please contact Moira at mgingery@aol.com. Thanks!
