The Partnership for Animal Welfare is an officially
recognized non-profit organization which is funded
through donations and adoption fees. Donations are
tax-deductible. If you would like
to help, you can do so by donating money, earmarking
your charitable donations to PAW, or donating food, blankets and
other supplies.
Donations may be mailed directly to PAW at P.O. Box 1074,
Greenbelt, MD 20768. Please make out your check to P.A.W. or
the Partnership for Animal Welfare. You are welcome to
dedicate your donation to a two- or four-legged friend. Your
donations are tax deductible (as specified by current tax law).
The United Way Campaign and the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC)
make it easy for you to make charitable contributions through payroll
deduction programs. If your organization participates, you can
contribute to PAW through the United Way and CFC. Simply complete
the pledge card with the amount you would like to donate and
designate PAW as the recipient. Our participant number is
9167.
If you would like to donate food, blankets, toys, bowls,
or other supplies,
please bring them to an adoption show or
contact us to make arrangements.
To accomplish the work we do at PAW, we need to raise money from a
variety of sources. Below are some fundraising activities that earn money for
PAW. We welcome volunteers - if you are interested please e-mail Fundraising
Chairperson Brian Daugherty at
bdaugherty@UBmail.ubalt.edu.
Yard Sales
Each spring through fall, we hold several yard sales to raise money for
the vet care for PAW rescued animals. We are happy to accept donations
of good condition items for the yard sale. We also need volunteers to
help with the yard sale and to host the sale at their homes.
Our next yard sale is April 15, 2000 - see the
PAW shows and events page for more information.
Concession Stands
Our volunteers run the concession stands at some of the events held at
the USAirways Arena and at Bowie Baysox games.
This is a very important money-maker. We
generally need twelve people to set up, run, and close a concession
stand at the arena. Volunteers run cash registers and prepare food.
Events typically occur on weekend days and evenings.
Raffles
Occasionally we are able to raffle off donated items to benefit
PAW. Our current raffle is for a new
bicycle.
Pet Store Promotions
The pet stores which host our adoption shows, Petsmart and Petco, hold
promotions throughout the year. Whenever possible, PAW volunteers
participate and help out. These events include "Santa Claws" pet photos
with Santa, "Show Me the Bunny" (customers donate $1 to have their name
printed on a paper bunny displayed in the store), and Adopt-A-Thons
(special adoption shows with several participating rescue groups).
Sales
We sell a variety of small items. PAW T-shirts and sweatshirts, calendars,
bags of tennis balls, and "arfghans" are some of the items available
throughout the year. We also sell Entertainment books between September
and January each year.
