[Biscuit]

Update: April 2, 2008

Biscuit is now 8 years old and doing well. He has not had any old or new health problems surface. He eats well, as you can see, and gets along well around his other cat friends. His only maintenance now is his annual visit to the doctor and bloodwork should he need a dental. Otherwise, his food is his only other expense. Thank you to all who have thought about Biscuit, and donated on his behalf.

Biscuit was born in a shelter in February 2000, along with his siblings who soon after passed away. Biscuit must have been the strong one but he began suffering from recurring bouts of coughing and wheezing, not eating and becoming very lethargic. Each time he lost weight and we treated him with antibiotics, fluids and steroids and he came back healthy each time, or so we thought.

After x-rays, sonograms and other diagnostic tests, we discovered that Biscuit's lungs were filled with fluid and he was diagnosed with severe allergic bronchitis/feline asthma with a prognosis of poor.

Biscuit is now 3 years old, beating the odds, and is doing remarkably well, but his prognosis for a long life is still poor. He occasionally coughs but has a good appetite, is affectionate and playful.

Biscuit is a big boy now weighing in at 15 pounds and gets along with and plays with the other cats in his home. He has turned out to be quite beautiful and we hope for the best for his future health; but his happiness is assured.

His medication costs about $25 a month.
